According to John Dewey, an American philosopher, psychologist and educational reformer, “Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself”. Education is a form of teaching-learning-practicing in which the knowledge, skills and information are transferred from teachers to students. But the traditional system of education in India fails to measure the capability of the students. It only assesses the students learning by allowing them to reproduce the exact text presented in the books as answers for questions. But the real need and demand of twenty first century learning system particularly in B Schools, is the transition from Output Based Education to Outcome Based Education.

A One-Day Workshop on “Course File Preparation and CO-PO attainment” was conducted on 9.04.22. The first session took place in the KD hall of the campus where Dr. Neha Gupta, Coordinator IQAC, welcomed the august gathering. Most young people look upon insurance as an instrument which one decides to buy only when is in their middle age, thinking that early 20s it is too early an age to consider investing in insurance policies.

This attitude is ingrained in youngsters because during their early 20s they are generally healthy, disease-free, have no dependents and little or no responsibilities. However, these very reasons can work to one’s advantage and help them secure extremely low premium rates when purchasing a life insurance policy. One can also secure a higher sum assured at an affordable rate, when young.

The consumer movement commemorates 15th of March as World Consumer Rights Day every year. The goal of this day is to raise global awareness about consumer rights and needs. Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers be respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights. Consumers in India are largely ignorant of rules, laws and codes. They are also unaware of their rights. A vast majority are also illiterate living in many backward districts and states. Hence, dishonest producers and retailers cheat such unsuspecting and ignorant people without difficulty.

So, in order to celebrate this occasion as consumer rights day, BIITM organized a Seminar on “World Consumers Rights Day” on 15th Mar 2021 at 2:30 pm. Speaking on the occasion the key note speaker Prof. Dr. B. B. Das said that everyone should be informed and be aware of their rights. He lamented that a lot of movie actors endorse different products, but they themselves are not aware of the implications of using the product. He further provoked the youth in the audience to utilize their inalienable right. The basic purpose was to create awareness amongst the students about rightful use of their rights. Prof. Manoj Parija also said that the day was first celebrated in 1993 and became an important annual occasion for mobilizing citizen action and solidarity within the international movement. The session ended with a learning experience for all the consumers (students and faculty) who attended it.

settings effectively; to enrich the academic language skills (written and verbal) for academic
writing and presentations; to understand effective planning, time management and
implementation for setting goals and achieving both personal and professional goals; to learn to
evaluate oneself (self-appraisal and introspection) for further growth, personally and
professionally.
This session was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) PK Mishra (former HoD, Dept. of Psychology, Utkal
University, Bhubaneswar). This highly informative, interesting and entertaining seminar on Personal Effectiveness' emphasized minutely on how to think, talk and behave in an effective way to be successful in life. The examples given by the Mr. Mishra on developing;personal effectiveness; were very amusing yet so comprehensible. He also addressed students on the
importance of attributes like change, thinking, perceiving, feeling, emotional expressions
etc.
Rightly said, "all effective people need not be successful, but in order to be successful minimum
effectiveness is required." So, in order to achieve things in life, it is important to develop personal effectiveness.
Overall it was a very exciting and open session where students gained knowledge on this developing personal effectiveness.

The virus spread its tentacles from China and spread dramatically all over the world. It caused a great deal of upheaval in the economy and almost all industries, radically changing the market scenario by raising costs. In the present crisis, any entrepreneur worth his salt must know how to wield the retrenchment axe to survive.

Given this sobering backdrop in a budding manager’s life, BIITM organized it's second WEBINAR on entrepreneurship and scope for MBA students in the Middle-East on the 27th February 2021 from 3:00pm - 5:00pm.

He also emphasized the need for the students stepping into the job market to factor in a crisis like the present pandemic. He also emphasised the need for cultivating the spirit of entrepreneurship during this new normal.

Moreover, during this informative session, he highlighted some key realities like-

  • the existence of opportunities on a limited scale and
  • the desirability of the students to be groomed properly on basic corporate etiquette.

The webinar concluded with an open session where participants participated enthusiastically in the Q&A session. Given the overwhelming response, BIITM is keen to conduct more such interactive WEBINARS in the near future.

It is a universally acknowledged fact that timely guidance from parents and teachers are not only desirable but imperative for a student to choose a career path from the myriad options available today. It has become imperative for these two pillars in a student’s life to meet synchronously and understand harmoniously the best way forward for their wards.

In pursuance of this important aspect in an eager student’s life, BIITM organized its first WEBINAR on Career Counseling on the 24th Feb 2021 from 4 PM-5 PM on the topic ASK (Attitude, Skills, Knowledge) for Employment.

This session was conducted by Prof. Varun Agarwal, Asst. Professor (Marketing). Many students across the state of Odisha and neighbouring states participated in this interesting webinar. The interactive session concluded with a Q & A session. It was indeed a thrilling experience for all the participants. Some of the participants expressly exhorted Mr. Agarwal, to conduct a few more Webinars on similar lines.
